COUNTY MINOR FINAL.
Heartiest congratulations to the Ballydonoghue Minor Football Team who by winning the Keanes Super Value sponsored County Division 1 league at Austin Stack Park on Friday evening last by defeating holders Dingle in a trilling encounter and became the first team from North Kerry to win this title at this level. It was nailbiting stuff and the rival following that thronged the venue were in full voice until the final whistle sounded. However after a sluggish enough start the North Kerry men settled and once midfielder Kevin O Donnell who was later named Man of the Match struck for a wonder goal during the second quarter after a move that started in defence. This was the wake-up call they needed and once they got going there was no stopping them after this. Not taking away from what was a fantastic team performance one must mention the current Kerry Minor footballers from the club; Jason Foley, Brian O Sheanachain and Jack Goulding who led by example. It was wonderful to see so many people from the District supporting. Well done to especially those magnificent footballers from 1 to 25 and their Management team. Ballydonoghue 1-11 Dingle 0-9.
COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP. Shannon Rangers 0-9 Dr. Crokes 2-16 These two teams clashed in the opening round of the Garveys Super Value Sponsored County Senior Football Championship at Shannon Park, Tarbert on Saturday evening last and as the scoreline reads it was a handy win for the Killarney side. However credit Rangers they played as well as they were left but it will take a good team to knock Crokes off the pedestal. Rangers will now go into the loosers round where they will take on St. Brendans on this weekend at a venue to be decided and if they can get it together then there is no doubt they can at least go a step further in the competition. Darran Russell was our own club representative coming on for the second half and getting on the scoresheet.
