NEW SEASON. Our senior footballers have got off to a tremendous start to the 2015 season having already qualified for the McCarthys Insurance Brokers North Kerry Senior Football League Division 2 semi final while in the Credit Union County League Division 5 after just two games played we had victory over Tuosist away but going down by just a two point margin at home to Valentia in a game we could so easily have got a draw. However with nine further rounds to be played the priority here would be promotion to Division 4.
Back to the North Kerry League and here the team played some tremendous football; playing all their games away and impressing in all their games to reach this stage of the competition; in fact having reached the final of Division 2 last year but went down heavily to Ballydonoghue who went on at a later stage to gain promotion to Division 4 of the County League it is a great achievement and shows what a dedicated group of players that represents the club. Ballyduff playing at home were first up in the North Kerry League and after a very competitive game it took late scores by Ballyduff to deprive Asdee of victory. Asdee 2-6 Ballyduff 1-9.
Next up was Moyvane who seemed to have the Indian sign over Asdee in recent clashes but on this occasion the boys in Black and Amber put one over on their opponents on a scoreline of Asdee 1-14 Moyvane 1-6. Unbeaten so far and in a very confident mood the team travelled to Walsh Park Knocknagoshel in search of further league points but there was a sudden stop to their gallop by the home side who completely overran the visitors; Knocknagoshel 1-11 Asdee 1-3. So to the final round of the league where as it happened winners take all with a semi final place at stake. Our opponents were our fellow parshioners and great rivals Ballylongford. In fairness to Bally they were very much understrength on this occasion as Asdee romped to victory. Asdee 1-15 Bally 0-5.
By virtue of those victories Asdee will now take on Knocknagoshel for a place in the Division 2 Final where Moyvane await the winners. In all their games so far in the league Asdee have totalled 5-38 and against 3-31. Scorers during the campaign were; Mike Breen 2-10, Darragh Keane, 1-3, Eoin Tydings, 1-3, Charles Dalton, 5pts, Eoin Kennedy, 5pts, Dinny Dalton, 1-1,Kieran Kelly, John Doran, 2pts, Con Carmody each, Michael Tydings, Padraig Ruddle, Darren Russell, Matt Hanlon, 1pt each.
COUNTY LEAGUE After two games in the Credit Union County League the following are the team scorers; Valentia 1-9 Asdee 0-10, Asdee 3-10 Tuosist 3-7. Eoin Tydings, 1-4, Darren Russell, 1-2, Dinny Dalton, 1-1, Darragh Keane, 3pts, Charles Dalton, Eoin Kennedy, Mike Breen, 2pts each, Con Carmody, Noel Long, Michael Tydings, Padraig Ruddle, 1pt each.
