COUNTY LEAGUE. Due to a bereavement in the parish the Asdee v Dr. Crokes “B” County League Division 5 game due to have taken place on Sunday last has been posponed to a later date
HALF MARATHON. Asdee GAA in association with Kerry Respite Care will be holding the inaugural Asdee GAA Half Marathon and 10km road race on Saturday September 13th commencing at 1pm sharp. The event will also incorporate a 5km fun run/walk. All the routes will start & finish at the grounds of Asdee GAA, Jack Walsh Memorial Park. There will be chip & pin timing for all runners in the Half/Marathon and 10km runs which will allow the competitors to measure their times.The event is open to all runners of any age or fitness level and from any county but we will also be expecting a number of competitive athlethes particularly for the Half-marathon and 10km races. It is AAI permited.
Asdee GAA would like to thank all of you for your interest so far in our AAI permited Road Race. For your convenience you can now register and pay on our website for the 5k, 10k or Half-Marathon(20k) events.
The cost of entering the individual races are as follows:
€10 for entering the 5km run for adults, €5 for U18′s doing the 5km
€20 for entering the 10km run
€30 for entering the Half-Marathon
ROUND-UP Its been a very successful period for the combination side of Asdee/Bally at Under age level.
Playing in Division 1 of the Minor North Kerry League the team have been doing quite well getting some good results to date. Their most recent clash was with the Tarbert/Moyvane combination side played at Brosnan Park, Moyvane and here we had a real trilling high scoring encounter that finished all square; Asdee/Bally 5-11 Tarbert/Moyvane 4-14.
In the County Under 21 Club competition we had Asdee/Bally/Beale joining forces and they proved much too strong for Tarbert/Moyvane in round in winning on a scoreline of Asdee/Bally/Beale 5-14 Tarbert/Moyvane 2-3. The winners here will now face Crokes in Round 2.
COUNTY FINAL. Asdee/Bally 4-12 Fossa 1-12.
Pride of place this week and well done to the Asdee/Bally U16s who successfully managed to bring a County League Title home on Tuesday evening last. They defeated Fossa on a comprehensive scoreline of 4-12 to 1-12. This was an great game of football with the sides level right up to the 50th minute which made for an enthralling encounter. Paul Murphy opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a point this was cancelled out a minute later by the impressive David Clifford for Fossa both sides swapped points and were level at three points a piece by the 10th minute Fossa added a further two points before Eoin O’Connor struck for a goal in the 15th minute this was followed two minutes later with a second goal this time from Paul Murphy after a neat pass from Michael Holly .Fossa controlled the game from here to half time and a goal in the 25th minute from Dylan Darmody and points from David Clifford and Conor Murphy left the half time score Asdee/Bally 2-4 Fossa 1-10.
On the restart Asdee/Bally had the aid of the wind and Ciaran Dowd opened the scoring with a fine point in the 1st minute David Clifford for Fossa responded two minutes later to maintain their lead Asdee/Bally managed to gain control of the game at this stage to string a series of points together and by the 20th minute went a point up. For the next five minutes neither side managed a score until a high ball into the square was gathered by Paul Murphy who was fouled for a penalty which was brilliantly scored by Owen O’Connor.The same player added another goal in injury time to finish an excellent team performance.Captain Thadg McEllistrim received the trophy on behalf of the team. Well done to Trainer Eamon McElligott and his selectors. Commiserations to a brave Fossa team who battled all the way but came up short in the end.
