ASDEE G A A
TERRACE TALK. Well it all seems to be all systems go at the minute for the local St. Marys G A A Club; waiting patiently for the date to be fixed for our historic Munster Final clash with the champions of Cork, Charleville; however on Monday January 6th was another milestone for the club when the Maestro Weeshie Fogarty who was M C for our recent club social featured Asdee on his first Terrace Talk programme of the year giving the club a 45 minute slot. Certainly the listeners and especially all locals were very proud of the club Officers whom were interviewed and who all gave their views on the happenings of the club at the moment.
Club Chairman and Secretary; Padraig Vallelly and Mark O Hanlon respectively gave their views, Team Trainer, John Kennedy and Selector Dan Dalton spoke freely as did former Treasurer of the County Board, John Joe O Carroll. You can hear the interviews and indeed the whole programme again any time by visiting Radio Kerry website. This publicity means so much to our Club and without doubt for the smaller clubs who are struggling at times like ourselves; take note; you don’t have to be in the top tier to enjoy your football.
A G M The date and venue has been confirmed for the Asdee G A A Annual General Meeting which go ahead on Friday February 7th, 8pm in the Community Centre. All motions and nominations must be with Secretary Mark O Hanlon not later than Wednesday February 5th.
UNDER 21 FINAL. Asdee/Bally/Beale 2-9 Knock/Brosna 3-12. This was an absolute cracker of a contest that had to go into extra time before the issue was decided played in excellent playing conditions on Saturday last at Duagh. However on saying all that there was no question or doubt but that Knock/Brosna who entered the game as favourites were the better side; they led at the break by 7pts and 8mts into the second half seem to have the game wrapped up, dominating proceedings and leading by 8pts.
Still the Shannonsiders who were chasing the game up to this seemed to get a foothold and bit by bit clawed their way back and a scrambled goal into injury time by full back Martin Collins took the game to extra time. They failed to score in that extra time and Knock/Brosna were crowned Under 21 champions for 2013. From the local club; martin Collins, Kieran Kelly, Darren Russell, Mikchael Tydings on the starting 15 while, Sean Keane, Eoin Tydings were introduced as second half substitutes, Con Carmody completed our representation. Team Manager/Trainer was Sean Carr.
