COUNTY LEAGUE UNDER 14 DIV 7 FINAL REPLAY
Asdee/Bally 0-13 St. Pats, Blennerville 0-5. Played in Ballyduff on Thursday evening last May 9th, in cold blustery conditions but on a perfect surface Asdee/Bally made no mistake at the second time of asking when they comprehensively overcame a spirited St. Pats side who on this occasion had no answer to the all round team performance given by the Shannonsiders. Certainly the mentors; Jackie Walsh and Donal O Carroll got this spot on as they had their charges well tuned in for the occasion and except for a period between the 12th and 14th minute when the Tralee side took a 1pt lead they were never headed and put on a superb display all through that was well worthy of a County Title win. The combination side got off to a great start and inside the opening 3mts had gone 2pts in front without reply with Conor Carmody and Ciaran Dowd on target. St. Pats got off the mark in the 4th minute followed in the 13th and 14th minutes with further points to go in front. However in between those scores it was evident that Asdee/Bally had the measure of their opponents and in fairness should have been ahead instead of trailing by a point as they were dominating in almost all positions. At this stage Ciaran Dowd and James O Connor were lording midfield, Jack Keane and Sean Carmody were clearing their lines in defence while in attack Liam Mulvihill Owen O Connor and Conor Carmody were causing plenty problems for their opponents. St. Pats failed to register further scores in this half as Liam Mulvihill, (2), Eoin O Connor, Conor Carmody and Ciaran Dowd added points leaving the half time score; Asdee/Bally 0-7 St. Pats Blennerville 0-3. Within 7mts on resumption this game was almost wrapped up with Owen O Connor unerring from frees splitting the posts on three occasions. Ciaran Dowd added 2 more before St. Pats opened their account in this half in the 15th minute. The Tralee side did rally adding a couple of points but Asdee/Bally stood firm and victory was assured long before Owen O Connor registered the final score of the game when he lofted over from close range. Besides those already mentioned goalkeeper Neill Carmody who didn’t have a lot to do on this occasion, did what was asked of him. Jack McKeown, Sean Hanrahan and Patrick Carmody never put a foot wrong in defence while even though they didn’t get on the score sheet both Stephen Lynch and Jack Collins were very much part of this fantastic win. After the game Martin Sheehy, County Coiste Na Nog Under 12 Co-ordinator was on hand to present the winners Shield to Joint Captains, Sean Carmody and Ciaran Dowd amid great scenes of jubilation amongst players and supporters alike. Team and scorers; Neill Carmody, Jack Keane, Jack McKeown, Sean Hanrahan, Sean Carmody, Patrick Carmody, Ciaran Dowd, 4pts, James O Connor, Liam Mulvihill, 2pts, Stephen Lynch, Conor Carmody, 2pts, Owen O Connor, 5pts, Jack Collins.
