COUNTY LEAGUE. As we approach the halfway stage of the 2014 season let us reflect back on how our Senior footballers are faring out and also a look ahead a little further. Without doubt since that famous victory in the Munster Junior “B” final played last March, (2013 competition) the team has grown in confidence and are turning in some excellent displays. Of course this is due to the tremendous efforts by both players and management and not forgetting our many sponsors and supporters who certainly deserve all the credit they could get and we are especially proud of the efforts given by those wonderful players. To think our pick is just about a mile and a half of a road surrounded by the Shannon River on one side and Ballydonoghue on the other with our fellow parishioners Ballylongford and Beale completing the surrounds and this gives you an idea of how little our area is and how difficult it has been to record our some notable achievements have been since our Club was re-formed in 1986. However despite immigration and other little infringements the club have achieved quite a lot both at Underage and Senior level. However lets get back to the starting half or so of the 2014 season; victory over both Ballyduff and Moyvane guaranteed the club a North Kerry League Division 2 semi final which will be against Knocknagoshel which is down for decision for Saturday June 7th at 7 30pm at O Sullivan Park, Finuge. In the County Novice Championship a very much under strength Asdee went down to Knocknagoshel in Round 1. The team will now play in a Shield competition. County League Division 5 has been going extremely well Going down by the minimum against St. Senans the team have gone on to record victories over Kilgarvan and Moyvane and a draw with Ballydonoghue with a back game against Valentia to be played to bring us up to near enough the half way stage of the Credit Union County League. Remaining games are home to Tuosist, Dr. Crokes “B” and Duagh and away to Sneem/Derrynane, Renard, Laune Rangers “B” and Valentia. Next up will be the glamour competition of North Kerry, the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship and all eyes will be on that draw coming up at a later date. Our Underage system now with Ballylongford has been very successful with Donal O Carroll a selector with the Under 14, Eoin Tydings with the Under 16 while Eoin O Carroll is looking after the Minors and Sean Carr will be in charge of the Under 21s from this side of the parish. Not forgetting a trojan working secretary Siobhain Keane. Underage championship games to follow. So a busy schedule ahead with plenty to look forward to.
MINORS. At a recent meeting of the North Kerry Football Board Fixtures committee the draws for the Minor Leagues were drawn up with Asdee/Bally competing in Division 1 of the North Kerry Minor League along with Moyvane/Tarbert, Castleisland Desmonds, Listowel Emmets. Asdee/Bally will have a bye in Round 1. First round draws are as follows; Moyvane/Tarbert v Ballydonoghue, Castleisland Desmonds v Listowel Emmets, Asdee/Bally bye.
