Our 17th player has been snapped up in our SPONSOR AN ASDEE PLAYER FOR MUNSTER campaign. Our neighbours Clounmacon Gaa have sponsored our full backMartin Collins. It is fitting that Clounmacon have sponsored us as they were our first opponents in this year County Championship and our Quarter-Final against them last July was where our Munster journey began. The Feale Rangers outfit were underdogs but put in a terrific performance which saw them leading by two points with only minutes to go. A late Asdee fightback denied them what would have been on the day a deserved victory and Asdee’s extra experience saw them narrowly scrape through into the County Semi-Finals on a scoreline of 2-20 to 2-16 after extra time. Indeed the two clubs have had many memorable encounters through the years. Asdee played them several times during their golden era in the 1950’s which peaked in the 1954 North Kerry Championship which saw Clounmacon go on to claim their first North Kerry Senior title. More recently the two sides produced a memorable encounter in the final of the North Kerry Intermediate Championship in 2005 which saw Clounmacon eventually run out winners in a game played inBallylongford Gaa grounds. We also wish the club best of luck with their weekly lotto. Any participants can follow the results at the Clounmacon Gaa website below
