NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.

With the North Kerry Division 2 League getting underway on this Sunday March 14th; Asdee along with Ballylongford, Duagh, Knocknagoshel and Ballyduff will be the teams competing. Asdee have a bye this weekend. Once again the team will be decked out in style for the year ahead and this is due mainly to our most generous sponsors Jeanette and Jim Keane of Black Rose Building Services L.T.D. Leagrave, Bedfordshire, England who very kindly sponsored a beautiful set of Hoodies and of course Jerry and Claire O Mahony of Brandon Products Kilcolman, Asdee who sponsored a set of Jerseys recently

 

MEETING.

At the first club meeting of 2016 held in the Community Centre on Thursday evening last was well attended and it was decided that there will be a number of Fundraising events taking place. At the moment there is the Golden Goal going ahead and this will be in conjunction with upcoming Fixtures in both National League and Championship. Tickets are on sale from club members and at outlets; Jack Js Bar, Post Office and John Pius at E2 each with E40 to be given out each week to the winning number which corresponds with the first goal scored.

Week one winner was Triona Costello, Craughdarrig. Then on Saturday April 9th at the Community Centre, Asdee there will be a Fundraiser with a difference which is sure to have the Parish and surrounding areas queing up for tickets. Full details in next weeks notes in this column. Saturday April 30th will see our Annual Fun Run taking place at Jack Walsh Park.

 

DRAW.

St. Marys, Asdee Club have once again joined the National Club Draw. For those who may wish to join you are asked to contact Ivan Tydings or any Club Officer in purchasing a €10.00 ticket. Prizes consist of, first prize Opel Corsa Car , followed by Tickets for both All Ireland football and Hurling plus accommodation, Shopping Vouchers to the value of E1000 plus plenty more magnificent prizes which includes 14 prizes in all. Draw will take place on Friday March 11th.

 

CLUB MEETING.

The next meeting of the club will take place in the Community Centre on Thursday March 3rd commencing at 8pm.

 

SCOR SINSEAR

Well done to the Question Time Team of Mike O Connor, Maria Alice Walsh, Kevin Mulvihill and Eoin Kennedy along with Donal Dalton in the Recitation catagory who represented the local G A A Club at the County Finals of Coiste Scor Sinsear Ciarrai held in the Girls (Convent) Primary School Castleisland on Saturday last February 5th . Despite not going forward to the Munster Semi Finals all performed well.

 

SCOR NA BPAISTI.

Down through the years the club have taken part in Scor Na bPaisti with plenty success and this is due mainly to our Club Scor Officer Kathleen Carmody who has made sure that the Club would always take part in Scor competitions let it be either Scor Sinsear, Scor Na Nog ar Scor Na bPaisti. Once again in what is probably the most popular of the competitions dates for Scor Na bPaisti is scheduled to go ahead in March and as all District Board Competitions must be completed by March 26th it will be all systems go prepairing for the competition; which will include, Question Time, Figure and Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Leiriu, Recitation, Ballad Group and Sean Nos Dancing.

It is necessary to take part in any two of the catagories but clubs can take part in as many as they so wish. All the winners at the District Finals will go forward the the County Semi Finals for the North of the County which includes; Castleisland District, West Kerry, North Kerry Hurling, North Kerry Football and Tralee District on Saturday April 9th and then on to the County Finals on Sunday April 17th. Venues for all competitions to be confirmed. Clubs taking part in the remaining Semi Final for the South of the County are East Kerry, Mid Kerry, Kenmare District, South Kerry.

 

SHANNON RANGERS. Shannon Rangers AGM is scheduled for Tuesday 16th February @ 9pm. Venue is the Thatch Bar.
