COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee1-4   Ballylongford  2-15. (This game doubled up
with both County League, Division 5 and North Kerry League, Division
2).The scoreline tells its own story from this local derby played at O
Rahilly Park, Ballylongford on Friday evening last where the men in
blue and white just toyed with the opposition for the bigger part of
the game and would have been significantly worse but for the excellent
defending of Eoin O Carroll and to a lesser extent Martin Collins.
Bally were far more hungry and were really up for it, there defence
after a few dodgy moments in the opening half were solid with Eamon
McElligott, Joe McCarthy and Stephen Foley on top of their game. John
Neville and Tadgh McEllistrim ruled midfield  while in a fast moving
attack that combined well;  Ciaran O Connor, (10pts) and Eddie Mangan,
(1-5) excelled. In fairness Asdee just seemed to be stuck to the
ground but may i add this is not taking away from Ballys victory,
James Kelly made a tremendous save near the end and handled well and
couldn’t be faulted for the goals, Darragh Keane faded out during the
second half while only Paul O Carroll and Eoin Kennedy made any
inroads in attack that was dominated by the Bally rearguard with some
ease.

The game was only a minute old when Ciaran O Connor struck for
the first of his 10py tally from a close in free followed by another
2mts later from Eddie Mangan. Darragh Keane split the uprights for
Asdee with a free. Points were exchanged by Sean Keane and Eddie
Mangan before Eoin Kennedy struck for a goal in the 13th minute. At
this stage the game was closely contested and Eoin Kennedys goal saw
Asdee up a gear and lead for the only time in the game.

However it wasshort lived as the home side who settled once again and 5pts without reply had them 0-8 to 1-2 as we hit the 24th minute. Darragh Keane had
the final score of the half leaving it 0-8 to 1-3 in the home teams
favour at the interval. The expectations of a better second  half from
Asdee on resumption was quickly dashed when Ciaran O Connor kicked
3-in-a-row to stretch it to 11pts to 1-3. Then in the 11th minute Mike
Breen kicked a nice point for the visitors and in fact this was his
sides only second half score as Bally just simply pulled away as the
pleased with Eddie Mangan and Ciaran O Connor as they did in the first
half winning and  converting easy possession; with Eddie Mangan and
Colm Heaphy finding the net in the 24th and 30th minute and midfielder
John Neville popping over a point. This was a very youthful Bally side
with many of their players just out of minor and if they can be kept
together can get the club back on the road to glory once again. For
Asdee its back to the drawing board and can bounce back once the dust
settles after this one.

last years County Champions; Mid Kerry in a preliminary round of the
Acorn Life  County Under 21Championship and and after a tremendous
game of football that went to extra time it was the North Kerry men
who came out on top. It was end to end play and with very little
between two well prepaired sides the game was in doubt up to sound of
the final whistle in extra time. Half time score; Shannon Rangers 2-6
Mid Kerry 1-6, Jack Foley and Jack Goulding getting the goals. Full
time it was Shannon Rangers 3-12 Mid Kerry 2-15, Jack Foley notching
his second goal of the game. In extra time it was still anybodys game
but then with 3mts left for play and Mid Kerry up by 1pt came a goal
worthy of any occasion; started in defence by Neilus Mulvihill on to
Jack Gogarty who transferred to substitute Kieran O Connell who found
Andrew Doherty and the Tarbert man rifled the ball to the net in some
style. Rangers added further points to clinch a superb victory. It was
