COUNTY LEAGUE  Asdee  1-6  Sneem/Derrynane  1-10. Sneem/Derrynane made the long trek to Walsh Park, Asdee on Saturday evening last and after a most entertaining encounter it was the South Kerry men that collected those valuable County league points. Certainly it was a game that could have gone either way but it was the combination sides ability to score when in possession that was to make the difference; on the other hand Asdee had plenty possession but failed dismally on the scoring department. The game started in whirlwind fashion with play swinging from end to end but in fairness both defences held firm which kept the scoring down to a premium. However even though well marshalled it was Ian Galvin who was causing endless problems early on and was later in the game to cause further grief with his contribution of 4pts and his selfeshness in laying off the ball to his fellow team-mates to grab vital scores at the conclusion of the game. Points in the 4th and 9thminute by Galvin saw his side deservidely in fron despite the home team kicking 4 wides in a row. However Mike Breen eventually got Asdee off the mark after 12 minutes with a difficult free from out on the sideline and followed with a glorious point to level in the 14th minute before Conor Coughlan in the Asdee goals had to pull off a tremendous save from point blank range after 18 minutes. At this point the home side seemed to get on top and Mike Breen continued his great form when he rattled the net in the 24th minute followed by a pointed free 4mts later. Ian Galvin stopped the rot as he split the uprights on half time leaving Asdee ahead 1-4 to 0-4. On resumption Asdee got out of blocks early and Darragh Keane and Matthew O Hanlon kicking points. Again Asdee having plenty play but were finding scores hard to come by and with over elaboration and poor passing they made it easy for the South Kerrymen to mop up and clear their lines. Sneem/Derrynane weathered the storm and began to get more into the game as Asdee seemed to be struggling in many positions. Conor Coughlan in the 11th minute once again was called into action to deny what looked like a certain goal. The visitors had now got a firm grip at midfield with Brendan Teehan and Brendan O Sullivan dominating; Ian Galvin went roaming winning plenty ball and setting up the scores that was   to prove the match winning scores. Brendan Teehan with Ian Galvin involved got in for a goal in the 15th minute to cut the deficit to just 1 point. In the 20th and 21st minutes saw Sneem/Derrynane hit the fron with Teehan and Galvin on target. 1-7 to 1-6. Still Asdee battled and as already stated the scores were not coming even that they had plenty clear cut opportunities. However the visitors made sure of victory with 3 unanswered points coming from Brendan Teehan, wing back Ray White and Centre back Michael O Connor. For Asdee Mike Breen was their best player until he tired in the second half, Eoin Tydings, Darragh Keane, Conor Coughlan for his tremendous saves, Eoin Kennedy, John Doran, Kieran Kelly and Darren Russell played important roles.  Team and scorers; Conor Coughlan, Sean Keane, Martin Collins, Brian Coughlan, Kieran Kelly, Darren Russell, David O Connor, John Doran, Darragh Keane, 1pt, Mike Breen, 1-4, Eoin Kennedy, Michael Tydings, Matthew O Hanlon, 1pt, Eoin Tydings, Dinny Dalton.Subs; Charles Dalton for matthew O Hanlon, Michael Walsh for Dinny Dalton.

COUNTY UNDER 16s.  When Asdee/Bally Under 16 footballers look back and reflect on this game they will wonder how this one got away. Well on top in the opening half and ahead by a 7pt

margin; playing all the good football but in the final 30mts or so they seemed to relax and allowed the Ballyduff boys back into the game and this proved to be their downfall. So after 2 games it’s a win and a loss but if they hope to make the knockout stages they will have to play for the duration of the game. Final score; Asdee/Bally 3-9  Ballyduff/Duagh 3-12.
