NORTH KERRY LEAGUE PLAY-OFF.. Our senior footballers who were involved in a three way play-off along with Ballyduff and Knocknagoshel to decide as to who will go on to play Duagh in the semi final of the Division 2 North Kerry Senior League; the game will finally take place at Dowling Park, Coolard on this Wednesday August 30th . 6 30pm with extra time if required. Asdees last game in this competition was played away back on Sunday May 7th against Duagh. In the play-off Asdee received a bye so both Knocknagoshel and Ballyduff played with the latter coming through.
Division 2 winners from 2015, Moyvane have already gone through to the final. Even though Asdee having reached the knockout stages of this competition for the past three years; defeated in both 2014 and 2015 by Ballydonoghue and Moyvane respectively while last year it was Ballyduff who got over the line at the semi final stage so hopefully we can rectify the situation this time around. In round 1 we defeated Ballyduff but the game that probably cost us a semi final spot was the encounter with Knocknagoshel where we went down by a single point to the home side despite having to play with a depleated side as some of our players decided on taking a day off.
However seeing now as we have another opportunity to put this in order and with a number of players back and ready for action once again hopefully this time round the misery of the past few years can be put to bed. However Ballyduff stand in the way of going further; they are a very formidable outfit with a host of top class players and are always a tough nut to crack; who never know when they are beaten.
Still if Asdee can get their act together driven on by our dedicated backroom team of John Kennedy and Dan Dalton who have done trojan work not alone this year but going back; so with almost at full strength at last they can take another step forward and a meeting with Duagh in a semi final.
GOLDEN GOAL Week 31 winners of the Golden was; Monica Quill, Listowel and Franchesa Kelly, Ballylongford which is in conjunction with upcoming Fixtures in both National Football and Hurling League and Championship. (Televised games)
Tickets are available and will be on sale each week for the duration of the National League and Championship from Club members and at the usual outlets; “Jack Jays” Bar, Post Office and John Pius at E2 each with E40 to be given out each week to the winning number which corresponds with the first goal scored.
ALL IRELAND. Asdee were represented in huge numbers at last Sundays All Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi Final Replay; Kerry v Mayo at Croke Park. However Kerry played poorly and had to give way to a far better Mayo outfit. The minors having already assured themselves of a place in the final so anybody contlemplating on going to the game on Sunday September 17th at Croke Park should contact Club Secretary, Mark O Hanlon immediately. In fairness our most efficient Club Secretary has done trojan work in the distrubition of match tickets during the year and no doubt will continue to do his very best to keep all Club members in line for those most saught after tickets..
