North Kerry League Div. 2 Duagh 0-07 Asdee 0-09, Asdee pulled off a super win in Duagh to clinch a place in the North Kerry League Final. Playing against the wind in the first half, Asdee played some great possession football & opened the scoring with a lovely point from Sean Keane. A Duagh point was followed by two frees from Darragh Keane & Paul O’Carroll to give Asdee the lead, before Duagh put the pressure on to score 3 frees ahead of the break, to lead 4 points to 3 at half time.

Duagh started the stronger in the second half & added three points in the opening ten minutes to lead by 4 points. However, from then on it was a brilliant display of football from Asdee as they took over proceedings for the final quarter.

Paul O’Carroll kicked a beauty of a free to cut the lead, before an intercepted kick out by Sean Keane released Darragh Keane through on goal, seeing him pulled down by the keeper, resulting in a black card. Darragh pointed the resulting free, before Asdee squandered a few chances to close the gap further. Following an excellent team move up the field, Brendan Keane kicked a fine point to pull the gap back to 1 point. Asdee were in control, but Duagh were defending in numbers to hold their lead.

With only a couple of minutes of normal time left, a lovely move saw Eoin Kennedy dummy inside from the wing & curl over a beauty to level the scores. Asdee made their pressure tell to win a free, which was coolly converted by Paul O’Carroll to give Asdee the lead.

Duagh went in search of a point but were turned over by the excellent Asdee defence, who then held onto the ball expertly for about 3 minutes, culminating in a mighty Darragh Keane point. Duagh had one final venture forward for a goal but the high ball was caught in the square by the outstanding Kieran Kelly. Eamon Moran, who did a fine job refereeing, blew the final whistle to give Asdee a 0-9 to 0-7 victory.

Great credit to everyone from 1 to 15 for their fierce work rate & quality of play throughout, they can all be proud of themselves. A massive well done to the team & management, who have put in a few great displays to qualify for the final, despite the tight numbers.
