COUNTY LEAGUE. Ballylongford 3-10 Asdee 3-4
Ballylongford collected the points in this local derby with seven
points to spare after an entertaining game played in brilliant
sunshine at O’Rahilly Park Ballylongford.
In the early exchanges both defenses were on top and blotted out any
attacks that came their way and when the opportunities did arrive they
were squandered with some wayward shooting..
Joe McCarthy eventually got Ballylongford off the mark and he had two
on the board before Mike Breen got Asdee’s opening score with a well
taken goal in the 15th minute.
Ballylongford pushed up again looking to get back on terms and Darren
Murphy found the net three minutes later to put Bally back in front.
Cian Barrett and Seanie Kennelly added a point apiece while John Doran
and substitute Kieran Kelly replied for Asdee while
Eoin Kennedy was unlucky when his shot for goal came off the crossbar
just before half time.
Half Time score
Ballylongford 1-4 Asdee 1-2
The third quarter belonged to Ballylongford as they raced into a
twelve point lead, two early points from Ciaran O’Connor and Seanie
Kennelly was quickly followed by goal from the penalty spot from
Ciaran O’Connor after a leg block on Kenneth Foley.
Padraig O’Neill and Ciaran O’Connor added a further two points before
Kenneth Foley struck for goal number three as he was quickest to react
to a ball coming off the crossbar in the 13th minute.
Asdee needed goals at this stage to get back in the game and Darragh
Keane got one back after a great individual effort in the 22nd minute
to add to Eoin Tydings earlier pointed free.
Ciaran O’Connor got a point for Ballylongford to steady the ship but
this was quickly followed by a goal for Asdee from Michael Tydings in
the 27th minute.
Two more points were exchanged before Referee Ian Liston brought
proceedings to a close.
Ballylongford are away to Kilgarvan next weekend in the preliminary
round of the Junior Championship.

MINORS. Bally/Asdee 4-8 Castlegregory 7-16. The combination side
travelled to Castlegregory on Saturday last to take on the locals in
the final round in their group, Division 6 “A” County Football League
but the final scoreline doesn’t do justice to the visitors who
performed quiet well, had their share of possession but the better
balanced home side took their scoring opportunities better and at the
final whistle were deserving winners. Castle got off to the perfect
start and had 2-2 on the scoreboard by the 10th minute and led at the
break by 6 points with Pa Carmody getting the first of his sides four
goals. On the changeover Bally/Asdee did make a fight of it for a
while with well taken goals from Sean Hanrahan,(2) and one from
Stephen Lynch. However the West Kerry side had strength in debt took
their opportunities and won as they pleased in the end. Team; Gavin

NORTH KERRY U14 LEAGUE. Finuge 5 – 08 Asdee / Ballylongford 3 -06 The
parish team got their season underway in Finuge today Saturday March
25th with the game being played in excellent conditions. The first
half was a tight encounter with never more than a score between the
teams. Whilst Finuge had most of the opening possession, our defence
held strong with solid displays all round, most notably from Patrick
Mulvihill who excelled for the entire game, Oran O’ Neill and Niall
O’Connor in goals. Christopher O’Donoghue had the honour of claiming
our first mark in underage football. The teams went in level at the
break at 1-4 apiece. Our goal coming from Brendan Keane and some well
worked points from Liam Connolly, Christopher O’Donoghue and Brendan
Keane. Half time: Finuge 1 -4: Asdee / Bally 1-4 Asdee / Bally got off
to a flying start in the second half and were 5 points to the good
after 10 minutes thanks to goals from Brendan Keane and Paddy O’Neill.
Finuge made their way back into the game with 2 quick goals of their
own. Sean O’Connor making his U14 debut kicked a point for the parish
team. With 5 minutes remaining, there was only a goal between the
teams. However, Finuge having played 2 extra games and having the
luxury of substitutes, finished stronger and closed out the game.
Whilst there was obvious disappointment, each player can be proud of
their performance. The county league gets underway on Wednesday
evening with an away game against Moyvane at 6:30. Full time: Finuge
