Asdee 1-15 Kilgarvan 1-8

Asdee recorded an excellent 7-point win in perfect conditions in Jack Walsh Park. The home team produced some brilliant football throughout, particularly in the first half. 

Darragh Keane opened the scoring with a lovely point from play, quickly followed by a fine point from Con Carmody up from corner back. 

Darragh extended Asdee’s lead with a free before Kilgarvan replied with a couple of points of their own. A great turnover in the midfield by Eoin Kennedy setup a lovely Darragh Keane point from the left. 

Kilgarvan got their first point from play before Owen Tydings added a long range point. Paul O’Carroll scored a fine free, followed by 2 Darragh Keane points after some excellent team moves. Kilgarvan got their fourth point to leave 4 points in it. 

Then a big moment in the game came as a beautiful cross field pass by Paul O’Carroll found Eoin Kennedy running from deep, he cut inside and let fly with a rocket into the top corner from outside the box. 

Darragh Keane added a free before kicking a beauty for the final point of the half after Asdee had held possession expertly for a number of minutes. This saw the half time score Asdee 1-10 Kilgarvan 0-4. 

The second half saw Kilgarvan start strongly with 2 points from play before Stephen Lynch knocked over a lovely point. Darragh Keane then added a free shortly after, and finished off another fine move a few minutes later. 

Kilgarvan tried their best to get back into the game and added another point before a lovely Gearoid Fennessy goal narrowed the margin. 

Asdee defended valiantly and stood firm with some excellent turnovers by Martin Collins, Owen Tydings, and Eoin Kennedy. 

Darragh Keane then kicked a beauty with the outside of the boot to steady the ship once again. We also saw some fantastic high fielding from Jack Keane during the half. 

Asdee held possession excellently as time ran down, finishing with a mighty John Doran point from the sideline. 

Tadgh Murphy, who reffed the game very fairly, blew the final whistle to see Asdee win by 7 points. 

Great credit to all the players who produced some excellent football to record their first county league win of the year. Special mention to Darragh Keane who finished the game with a tally of 10 points.
