COUNTY LEAGUE  In the Credit Union County Football League Division 5  Asdee v Ballylongford due to be played at Walsh Park on Sunday last there was huge disappointment when Bally notified our Secretary Mark O Hanlon that they were unable to field a team and so giving the home team a walkover. League points are no doubt always welcome but certainly not in this manner. Then there is the situation where players had travelled from long distances to play with their club only to find out with a late phone call on Sunday morning that the game was not going ahead. Many players having spent their football career  proudly playing from Underage upwards with the Blue and White from the Western side of the Parish which included County and All Ireland medal holders the O Donoghue Brothers Eamon and Paudie, John Kennedy, Dan Kissane, Under 21 and Colleges (St. Brendans), Liam Horgan Club Championship(Baltinglass, Wicklow), Junior, Mike Walsh, Inter Firm, John Joe O Carroll. All National Medal holders when there was just one team in the Parish until Asdee was reformed in 1986; this is just not right to have a Club like Bally to drop down to this level and hopefully they will turn this around before the end of the season for both the good of football and that great rival;ry that exists between Asdee and Bally. Both sets of supporters have always looked forward to the meeting of the clubs whether it is County or North Kerry competitions and as all ready stated its all just a big disappointment to everybody concerned.
