MINORS Asdee/Bally 1-4 Ballyduff/Duagh 5-11. Our Minor footballers of so much was expected of after doing well in all other competitions during the year just failed to show their true form on the day and bowed out of the Division 2 “Jotty Holly Memorial Minor North Kerry Championship at the semi final stage. It was simply a bad day at the office as the Ballyduff/Duagh combination side just breezed past a disjointed outfit who had very few of the team playing up to the standard expected. Dowling Park, Coolard was the venue and this game was effectively over by the end of the first quarter as Ballyduff/Duagh led 4-2 without reply playing against the breeze.
Our only score in that opening half came from Conor Keane leaving the interval score; Ballyduff/Duagh 4-4 Asdee/Bally 0-1. In fairness Asdee/Bally came more into the game on resumption; maybe the opposition took their foot off the pedal but credit the boys in blue and white they showed some flashes of football that they are capable of playing. Eoin O Connor and Conor Carmody added points while Sean Hanrahan pushed up from midfield to billow the net. Still Ballyduff/Duagh weathered that storm and finished with a florish scoring a further 1-7 to seal a fully deserved victory that was really never in doubt.
