COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee 1-10 Rathmore “B” 2-13. Walsh Park Asdee was
the venue where Rathmore kept their promotions ambitions very much
alive with a 6pt victory over Asdee in a very entertaining contest.
Certainly Rathmore deserved their win but were put to the pin of their
collar by the home side who were forced to line out without a number
of regulars but gave as good as they got from the pre match
favourites.

Leading by a point 8mts into the second half and enjoying
plenty possession but a clumsy tackle a minute later when midfielder
John Hickey was upended and from the resultant penalty Kenneth O
Keeffe made no mistake. Without doubt this was crucial to the end
result as it gave the visitors the lift they needed and even though
the home side missed some scoring opportunities they were always
chasing the game and a number of wides didn’t help the cause either.
Rathmore got off to a blistering start and inside the opening minute
corner forward Padraig Cronin had slotted over 2pts. Eoin Kennedy and
Paul O Carroll replied for the home side but further points coming
from John Hickey, Brian Crowley and Kenneth O Keeffe to lead after
14mts by 0-5 to 0-2.

At this stage playing with the aid of the wind
Rathmore were in full flight and even though Darragh Keane pointed a
free to reduce the deficit it was the visitors with Kenneth O Keeffe,
(2) and Conor O Sullivan who pulled ahead once again. In the 24th
minute it was the home side who put a great move together and at the
end was Eoin Tydings who billowed the net from an acute angle. Points
were exchanged by Darragh Keane and Eoin Tydings for the home side and
Brian Crowley for the visitors and at half time it was; Rathmore 0-9
Asdee 1-5. Darragh Keane had the sides level inside the opening minute
on the changeover and by the 8th minute a John Doran point had Asdee
ahead for the only time in the game.

Then came the penalty incident
which saw Rathmore hit the front with Kenneth O Keeffe hitting the
net. Still Asdee were hanging in there; Stephen Lehane and Mike Breen
exchanged points and as we hit the final quarter it was still there
for the taking for the home side but in the 23rd minute came a goal of
a rather soft variety finished to the Asdee net by Rathmores
substitute Padraig McCarthy and with it went the home sides hopes of
collecting the league points on offer. Eoin Kennedy, (f) and Paul O
Carroll added points but Kenneth O Keeffe (2f) and Jack Reen made sure
of victory with similar scores.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE. Due to a bereavement, our senior footballers in
last weeks clash with Knocknagoshel , due to take place at Walsh Park,
Asdee on Wednesday evening last in the McCarthys Insurance Brokers
North Kerry Senior football league, Division 2 was cancelled and will

at 7 30pm.

UNDER 12s. The local combination side Asdee/Bally continued their
impressive start to the North Kerry League with a comprehensive
victory over Listowel Emmets “B” in a rather one sided encounter
played at Walsh Park, Asdee on Monday evening last. The home side
dominated proceedings all through playing some tremendous football
against an understrength visiting side. At the break it was
Asdee/Bally who were racking up the scores and its fair to say with
the home side leading; 4-11 to 0-2 this game was really over as a
contest. A further 1-15 on resumption against a partly 1-1 by Emmets
made sure this contest was long over before the sound of Referee
Eamon Moran, Ballydonoghue final whistle. A feature of the game was
that that 10 different players got on the scoresheet. It would be nice
if the team would get better support at their games; as really these
are the players of the future we are talking about. Team and scorers;
Niall O Connor, 1-3, Patrick Mulvihill, 3pts, Jack Hannon, 3pts, Oran
O Neill, 1-1, Cillian Kennelly, 2pts, Michael Hannon, 1pt, Bobby

many tickets sellers who made the Fundraiser once again a huge success

SHANNON RANGERS. Despite going down rather heavily in the Keanes Super
Value County Minor Football Championship away to East Kerry in Round
1,the team put in a tremendous performance with an away fixture to
Firies in the loosers round and even though defeat was their lot they
were most unlucky not to have come out on top on this occasion going
down by just a 2pt margin in a tremendous game of football; Firies
2-10 Shannon Rangers 2-8. With the Seniors, Under 21s, Under 14s and
now the Minors gone out of contention for County Championship honours
in the 2016 County Championship we anxiously await our Under 16s
progress who will be playing at a later date. The local combination
side Asdee/Bally were well represented on all teams.
