North Kerry League Division 2.

Asdee got their second win of the North Kerry League in a hugely entertaining win over Moyvane on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-8.

The early stages were cagey with both teams missing a couple of potential starters, matching each other point for point, with Asdee’s points coming from Owen Tydings, Paul O’Carroll and Darragh Keane.

Then Asdee hit a purple patch from the mid-way point in the half, establishing a lead with Owen Tydings, Eoin Kennedy, Paul O’Carroll, and Sean Keane adding points, and Darragh Keane hitting the game’s first goal, with two further points. This left the half-time score 1-9 to 3 points.

Moyvane started the second half brightly and got the first 2 points, before Asdee replied with an Owen Tydings point. Moyvane then struck for a goal to leave 5 points between the teams, but Asdee rallied strongly, with Paul O’Carroll adding 2 points and Darragh Keane scoring 1-1.

Moyvane fought to the end and notched up three more points, prior to Darragh Keane getting his hat-trick in injury time. The final score of 3-13 to 1-8 did not show how tight the was game for long periods and Moyvane will no doubt be out to even things up next month in the county league.

It was an excellent performance from Asdee, built on a solid defence and commanding performances by James Kelly in goals, Martin Collins and John Doran up the centre, with Con Carmody, Brian Coughlan, Jack Keane and Conor Keane ably linking the play and keeping their men under pressure.

Darragh Keane had a man of the match showing with 3-4, while his midfield partner Mike Breen put in a mighty shift around the pitch. The half forwards of Paul O’Carroll, Sean Keane, and Jack Collins worked their socks off and can be more than happy with their showing.

The inside line of Owen Tydings, Stephen Lynch, making his first outfield start in over 18 months, and Eoin Kennedy, showed up very well, taking their scores and providing tireless work rate and movement.
