COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee  0-8  Sneem/Derrynane  1-12. A very much understrength Asdee side travelled to the South Kerry venue of Sneem on Saturday last in round 5 of the Credit Union County Football league. It was nip and tuck during the opening half with the South Kerry boys taking advantage of what ever scoring opportunities that came their way whereas the visitors were finding it difficult to put scores on the board. Ronan Hussey and Ian Galvin were causing plenty problems for the Asdee rearguard with Ronan Hussey kicking some well worked points and Ian Galvin finding the net inside the first quarter. However Asdee settled and points from Kieran Kelly, (2), Paul O Carroll, Cyril Dineen and Eoin Kennedy left the half time score; Sneem/Derrynane1-6 Asdee 0-5.

On resumption the home side went further ahead with Ian Galvin and Ronan Hussey splitting the posts early on and led 1-9 to 0-5 by the end of the third quarter. Even though the visitors failed to score up to this stage they were always battling hard and when Eoin Kennedy, Mike Breen and Cyril Dineen kicked over points the deficit was now cut to a 4pt margin. In fact with under 10mts remaining it took a superb save by the home sides goalkeeper to deny what looked like a certain Asdee goal. Sneem/Derrynane weathered the storm and kicked 3 further points to seal a victory and two valuable County league points.

Asdee team and scorers; James Kelly, Eoin O Carroll, Martin Collins, Brian Coughlan, Michael Walsh, Sean Keane, Kieran Kelly, 2pts, John Doran, Darragh Keane, Mike Breen, 1pt, Eoin Kennedy, 2pts, Paul O Carroll, 1pt, Dinny Dalton, Cyril Dineen, 2pts, Matthew O Hanlon.
