ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The 30th Annual General Meeting of St. Marys Asdee G A A Club took place at the Community Centre on Saturday night last, January 9th where a large attendance were present that saw two changes to the line up for the year ahead. Long serving Club Officer Patsy Coughlan stepped down from the positions of Vice Chairman and Registrar and was replaced by John Kennedy and Kevin Mulvihill respectively.

Prior to the Meeting getting underway there was a minutes silence observed for all who suffered bereavements during the past year. Chairman Padraig Vallelly welcomed all to the meeting and thanked everybody for their wonderful support once again during the past year.. A special word of thanks to all the various sponsors down through the year and especially our most recent sponsor; Jeanette and Jim Keane of Black Rose Building Services L.T.D. who very kindly sponsored a beautiful set of Hoodies.

And of course Jerry and Claire O Mahony of Brandon Products Kilcolman, Asdee who sponsored a set of Jerseys recently along with many others sponsors too numerous to mention He congratulated the Coiste Na Nog members from Asdee who were part of Asdee/Bally at under age. and requested the club members to get more involved in fundraising. The Chairman went on to thank everybody for their support. Secretary, Mark O Hanlon gave a detailed account of the Clubs activities on and off the field during the year.

It was a busy year for the Club yet again having teams in all competition in North Kerry and the County competitions with Seniors, Minors, Under 21s,Coiste Na Nog, Cumbann Na Bun Scoil, local Blitzs and Shannon Rangers. In the North Kerry League the Senior team reached the Division 2 North Kerry League Final for the second year in a row going down to Moyvane. Again our seniors put up a marvellous performance defeating Ballylongford in the first round of the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship before going down to Brosna at the quarter final stage.

The team excelled in the County league and were not far off the mark for promotion while in the County Novice Championship we were defeated by St. Senans, the eventual winners at the semi final stage. He finished by thanking all the players for their total commitment during 2014. Treasurers report by John Joe O Carroll outlined the Clubs Finance and again he urged the club members to get more involved in fundraising.

COISTE NA NOG. The A G M of Coiste Na nOg Easa Duibhe will take place in the Community Centre on this Saturday January 16th at 8pm. All welcome.

 

MEMBERSHIP. Membership of the Club is now open so anybody who would like to take out membership can do so by contacting Club Registrar, Kevin Mulvihill. Adults E20 and Under Age E10. It is important to note that Membership of the Club will close on Thursday March 31th and this will be strictly adhered to. Only fully paid up members will be in line for any match tickets that the Club may aquire.

 

MINORS. Asdee/Bally 5-10 Moyvane/Tarbert 2-9. Asdee/Bally had a comfortable victory over Moyvane/Tarbert in the Jotty Holly Minor Division 2 Semi Final played at Brosnan Park, Moyvane on Sunday last. They will now play the winners of Knock/Brosna or Beale in the decider on a date and venue to be confirmed.

 

OVER THE BAR. Kevin O Riordan from Templemore Co. Tipperary visited our Club on Monday last January 4th 2016; kicking a point at the Jack Walsh Memorial Park. Kevin is raising funds for the HOPE Foundation for the education of children in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), he plans to kick a point over every goalpost in every GAA Club in the Country. Well done Kevin it was a pleasure to meet him and support him and watch you score your point. Best of luck from St. Marys, Asdee.
