COUNTY LEAGUE  Asdee  5-9   Ballyduff  4-7. Asdee and Ballyduff played out a 9 goal thriller at Ballyduff on Saturday evening last in Round 8 of the Credit Union County Football League with the quality of the football and scores being of the highest order despite a tricky stiffish breeze that blew into the Village goal in which Asdee played into in the opening half. Ballyduff defended well with Mikie Boyle and Thomas O Rourke always a threat in attack for the home side. The visitors opened the scoring with an Eoin Kennedy point after 2mts but 4 wides in a row didn’t help their cause as Sean Costello took advantage of sloppy defending with the ball ending up in the net 3mts later. Asdee were enjoying plenty possession but the wides were totting up and Ballyduff held tight. Mikie Boyle although well marshalled by Martin Collins slipped in for a point with John Doran, Mike Breen for the visitors. Then just on the 30 minute mark Brian O Carroll was hauled down and the resultant penalty was finished to the net in some style by Mikie Boyle and at the break it was Ballyduff 2-4 Asdee 1-5. On resumption it looked as if the home side would romp to victory  with the breeze behind them. However Asdee dug deep and in a frantic second half in which Ballyduff went 4-5 to 1-5 ahead after just 6 minutes with goals from Evan Doyle and Padraig Slattery and looked destined to collect the league points on offer; but Asdee had other ideas and threw caution to the wind and well taken goals from Matthew O Hanlon, Darragh Keane and Eoin Tydings saw the men in black and Amber squeeze to victory.  It was very encouraging  for the club with top class displays from newcomers Patrick Horgan and Keith McNamara along with Thomas Mulvihill who was out of action for a while.Team; Conor Coughlan, Sean Keane, Martin Collins, Keith McNamara, Kieran Kelly, Darragh Keane, Micheal Tydings, John Doran, Padraig Ruddle, Mike Breen, Eoin Kennedy, Patrick Horgan, Matthew O Hanlon, Eoin Tydings, Dinny Dalton. Subs; Michael Walsh for Michael Tydings, Thomas Mulvihill for Keith MacNamara.
