COUNTY LEAGUE. This Saturday, 7 30pm at Walsh Park our senior
footballers play their final home Credit Union County football league
Division 5 game when we host Tuosist who are in the promotion stakes
themselves. At this stage all it means to Asdee who are well off
contention for moving up a Division and is just another game in
preparation for the McCarthys Insurance Brokers North Kerry League
Division 2 Semi Final against Ballyduff which is scheduled for
Wednesday August 17th. However Ballyduff who are also in the County
Senior Hurling Championship Semi Final against Abbeydorney on Sunday
August 14th and if they advance it is more than likely that Wednesday
September 17th will be the date for the football Semi Final. Venue is
yet to be confirmed. The winners will play Ballylongford in the final.
UNDER 16s. Asdee/Bally Under 16s have been impressing in all their
games in Division 7 of the County Football League to date. In Round 1
even though the scoreline may suggest otherwise defeat was our lot but
in fairness we could so easily have got a share of the spoils only for
been off target on occasions. After their loss to Ballyduff in Round
1; we had a big win over St Senans in Round 2 played in O Rahilly
Park, Ballylongford. Asdee/Bally 4-13 St. Senans 3-4. In Round 3
Asdee/Bally had a bye while the latest result ended in defeat to
Moyvane/Tarbert by Moyvane 1-7 to 1-4 in round 4.
UNDER 11s. Asdee/Bally 3-3 Ballydonoghue 5-14. Under 11 North Kerry
Football League got underway on Sunday last at Jack Walsh Park, where.
Asdee/Bally were playing Ballydonoghue. The game itself was
entertaining enough but Ballydonoghue were always in the driving seat.
However credit Asdee/Bally even though they struggled with the pace of
the game they did not give up and tried hard up to the sound of John
Hennessys final whistle. Training sessions have been organised at Jack
Walsh Park each Tuesday evening commencing at 6pm sharp so parents are
urged to make sure all players will be in attendance. The team
consisted of: Pauric Fogarty, Jack Hannon, 1pt, Dara Healy, John Daly,
Oisin Healy, 1gl, Patrick Mulvihill, 2-2, Liam Walsh, Roisin Fogarty,
Liam Hanrahan, Eamon O Connor, John Collins, Logan O Sullivan.

BEREAVEMENT. The death took place in Whitechapel in London’s Eastend.
England recently of a former Asdee footballer Mickie White of Asdee
East who graced the football fields of North Kerry with distinction
with his beloved Asdee. Mikie was a member of the 1956 winning Asdee
team who won the North Kerry Intermediate Football Championship
playing a starring role at centre back along side his brother
Johnny,(R I P) in defeating Tarbert at the Shannonside Village.
For the record the team that lined out on that memorable day were; Joe
Murphy, Mossy O Carroll, Ned Joe Lyons, Timmy Carr, Tony Stack, Mickie
White, Johnny White, Tom Keane, Pat Moriarty, Brendan Boyle, Conor
Finucane, Tom Fitzgerald, Tom Sheehy, Tommy O Connor, Neilie O Mahony.
Fonty Stack missed the final.
Mickie was born on the 1st October 1933 in the townland of Asdee East
and was the fourth child born to Ellen and John. Mickie had 3 brothers
(Batty, Johnny and Paddy all R.I.P) and one sister Ellen who currently
lives in England.
Mickie along with his brothers and sister attended the local school in
Asdee village. Mickie and his brothers loved all things football and
played for the local GAA team in Asdee. Locals in Asdee who remember
Mickie as a player all agree that he was a very good strong tough
player. He emigrated to London in the late twenties in search of work
but returned regularly to his beloved home to see his family
especially his mom
Mickie always kept abreast of what was happening in Asdee and called
his family regularly for the news from home. Mickie got the Kerryman
every week and sometimes had more news than his family at home had.
He met the love of his life Julia in 1972 in London and spent 44 years
together and had a wonderful life.
Mickie will be laid to rest in London on Tuesday 16th August 2016. On
behalf of St. Marys, Asdee G A A Club we would like to take this
opportunity to offer our deepest sympathy to all his family and
friends.
