CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW. All club delegates within the North Kerry Football Board were in attendance at McMunns Bar and Restaurant, Ballybunion who are sponsors of the North Kerry Senior Football Championship on Friday night last. All eyes were on the Senior Championship draw for the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial and Eamon O Donoghue Memorial Cup as Board President Jerry Brosnan, Moyvane made the draw, Certainly it threw up some very exciting contests and none more so than Asdee v Ballylongford which is sure to be the big talking point within the parish leading up to the game. Last year champions Beale are at home to Ballyduff, Finuge must travel to Listowel Emmets, Desmonds entertain Duagh, St. Senans have home advantage against Tarbert and Moyvane take on Brosna atBrosnan Park. Two byes went to Knocknagoshel and Ballydonoghue. Exciting times ahead.
COUNTY LEAGUE. The County League Division 5 game between Asdee and Duagh down for decision on Sunday last at Walsh Park failed to go ahead. The result of this contest will now be decided by the C C C of the County Board.
HALF MARATHON. The local St. Marys, Asdee GAA in association with Kerry Respite Care will be holding their Fundraising Half Marathon and 10km road race and which will also incorporate a 5km fun run/walk on this Saturday September 12th with a starting time of 10am. All the routes will start and finish at the grounds of Asdee GAA, Jack Walsh Memorial Park. A huge crown is expected to be in attendance and if last years event is anything to go by this will be another exciting day for the club.
NORTH FINAL. All roads will lead to O Rahilly Park, Ballylongford on this Saturday evening for the long awaited North Kerry League Division 2 Final between Moyvane and Asdee. Certainly Moyvane will carry the favourites tag into this encounter and rightly so as they have impressed in all their games and especially in the County League where they stand in line to be promoted to Division 4. The clubs have already been in action earlier in the year with Asdee having an impressive victory in the North Kerry League but the roles were reversed in the County League when a late goal saw the Newtownsandes men grab victory. However since those clashes Moyvane have their former County attacking star Patrick Curtin back in action which will be a huge addition to what is really a youthful squad. Add in Timmy Noonan, Brian Stack and Con Mulvihill who will take a lot of watching. Donal Leahy can be an imposing figure at midfield while in defence Denis Kennelly, Eoin Stack and Shane Stack can make life difficult for any attack.. Still Asdee will not be going in to battle to make up the numbers as they too have quality players in their ranks. Noel Long, Eoin O Carroll and Martin Collins will form a teak tough defence while at midfield if John Doran, Padraig Ruddle can turn it on this could be very well the trump card providing a plentiful supply of ball to a swift moving forward line that includes. Eoin Kennedy, Darragh Keane, Mike Breen and Eoin (Bomber) Tydings. But besides all those already mentioned it could very well be other members of the sides that could very well sway the issue in either clubs favour. To sum up it promises to be close contest and is sure to attract a huge following to O Rahilly Park.
NORTH KERRY LEAGUE. Asdee/Bally have qualified for the North Kerry League Division 2 Minor final and must now await their opponents which will be either; Knock/Brosna or St. Senans who are involved in a play-off. The final has been fixed for Sunday September 13th with a venue to be confirmed..
