CREDIT UNION COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

Division 5 of the Credit Union County Football Leagues gets underway this weekend and with 5 extra “B” teams coming in to this Division it will mean that there will be 2 Groups; Group “A” which will have 10 teams  competing ; Sneem/Derrynane, Scartaglin, Ballyduff, Beale, Dingle “B”, Miltown/Castlemaine “B”, Kerins O Rahillys “B”, Kenmare Shamrocks “B”, Dr. Crokes “C” Tuosist.

While Asdee will be in Group “B” (11) teams) along with John Mitchels “B” Austin Stacks “B”, Cromane, Kilgarvan, Beaufort “B”, Killarney Legion “B”, Knocknagoshel, Moyvane, Rathmore “B” and Ballylongford.

Im sure there are a lot of ambitions for all sides involved with teams  looking to recreate former glory like; Beale, Ballylongford, Cromane, Scartaglin and Moyvane who would be favourites to be in the running for promotion and to get out of this Bacement Division. However its not all about the already mentioned Clubs as Asdee also have promotion prospects and why not; they are well capable of holding their own and beating any of those clubs which they have done in the past.

In fact last year they reached the quarter final stages only to be defeated  by Valentia who went on to gain promotion. They have prepaired very well; their progress to date in the North Kerry League is impressive to say the least; loosing by a single point to Duagh while victories over Ballyduff and Moyvane have propelled them to within striking distance of the knockout stages of the competition.

Certainly the tie of the round will be the meeting of fellow parishioners Ballylongford and Asdee and in recent clashes the Bally boys have come out at the right side of the bargain and of course will be going in as favourites to get their County League season off on a winning note. Still the boys from the Eastern side of the parish will have no fears and will be going all out to put one over on their great rivals; the real beauty of this encounter is that almost all Asdee players have played all their underage football with Bally in both County and North Kerry which will add to the occasion.

Even though i suppose like most Clubs Asdee have lost a few prominent players to immigration and a few that saw fit to transfer to the opposing club may i add; but on the bright Asdee can welcome back Darren Russell after a few seasons away and Con Carmody after a short lay-off  and this year we saw the introduction to senior football of Shay Doran, Jack Collins and Stephen Lynch who have been very impressive to date.

Without doubt our Management team of John Kennedy, Mike “Tricky” Enright, Dan Dalton and Sean Doran will leave no stone unturned in the Clubs bid for not alone victory on Sunday but also  promotion. So an exciting day ahead which should attract a good sized attendance to Jack Walsh, Park Asdee on this Sunday at 2pm.
