NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.
Last weekends fixture in the McCarthys Insurance Brokers Division 2 North Kerry League between Asdee and Duagh was postponed and has been rescheduled for Sunday April 30th or Sunday May 7th. The reason for the delay in playing this
game is due to fixtures that have already been put in place by the
County Board so these are the only available dates when the game can
be played with Credit Union County League, County Junior, Intermediate
and Novice Championship; County Senior Football Championship play off
involving Shannon Rangers coming up. Having been involved the 2014
2015 Finals and last years semi final without success this is is a
must win game for Asdee if they hope to reach the Semi Finals of the
competition. Again only a full panel of players will only suffice if
we are to have any success.
MUNSTER FINAL SCOR. At the minute the local Novelty Act Group of
Kathleen Carmody, Mairead Doyle, Gerdie O Carroll and Jack Hennessy
are putting the final touches to their sketch “The Pensioner” . Having
been successful at the recent County Finals of Scor Sinsear held in
Castleisland beating off some tough opposition from, Na Gaeil, Reenard
and Fossa to book a Munster Final place in the Cappamore Community
Centre on this Saturday April 8th with a starting time of 6pm. Due to
the interest generated by the event a supporters bus will be
travelling to the County Limerick venue and which will be leaving from
the Community Centre at 3 30pm. At the minute there are still a few
seats available so you can avail of the opportunity to support your
Club by contacting Club Cultural Officer, Kathleen Carmody
immediately. This is the third time the Club have been involved at
this level in Scor Sinsear; Mick Hennessy was first in the Recitation
Catagory in the “Forum Theatre” Waterford in 1992 and later in
Templemore, County Tipperary in 1997. 1996 saw our Ballad Group of
Jeanette O Connor, Paddy McElligott, Jimmy Quinn and John Paul Galvin
take to the stage in Clonmel, County Tipperary in 1996. So with just
one step away from making it to an All Ireland Final hopefully Asdee
can this time at least take that further step in the journey. Back in
the mid 80s Asdee did reach the All Ireland Finals of Senior Scor due
to take place in Derry but due to circumstances beyond control at that
particular time the Asdee Novelty Act Group of Kathleen Kennedy Helena
O Keeffe, Joe O Keeffe and Martin Mulvihill never travelled to the
finals.
GOLDEN GOAL. Week 9 winners of the Golden Goal was; Ann Maria

of the National League and Championship from Club members and at the
usual outlets; “Jack Jays” Bar, Post Office and John Pius at E2 each
with E40 to be given out each week to the winning number which
corresponds with the first goal scored.
FUNDRAISER. Coming up during the year ahead the Club are
contemplating running a few Fundraisers to help the day to day
running of the Club which will also include our Annual Half Marathon
and 10k road race which will also incorporate a 5k fun run/walk which
will be coming up shortly. Certainly great credit must be given to the
people of the parish as down through the years the support we get is
phenomenal and the Club are deeply indebted for their generosity. Now
it has been definately confirmed that due to the overwhelming success
of last years event and back by popular demand again the Asdee GAA
are proud to announce that they will be hosting a second in a row of
the popular ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ fundraiser in the Asdee Community
Centre so in order to accommodate a number of requests we will keep
you up to date with the build-up to the night as the summer goes on.
