ALL IRELAND FINAL
All Ireland glory for North Kerry and the Kingdom as the Mike “Tricky” Enright trained Clanmaurice Ladies Camogie and Management team made history against all the odds to become the first Munster Club side to win an All Ireland Junior Club championship defeating pre match favourites Raharney of Westmeath on Sunday last at Mc Donagh, Park, Nenagh County Tipperary after a replay.
This was without doubt a magnificent achievement for everybody involved and once again local St. Marys, Asdee G A A Coach Mike Enright who is successfully coaching teams for over 44 years around North Kerry waived his magic wand once again and this time to an All Irerland title. However shortly after the victory Mike announced that he was stepping down from his position. On there way home they had a stop at “Jack Jays” pub in Asdee where they got a huge reception before going on to Causeway.
A sizeable local support was present to cheer on the team who had plenty local connections involved on the day with playing members Jackie Horgan; (Player of the Match) as her mother Ann Collins, formerly of Craughdarrig, Asdee is married to well known St. Senans and Kerry footballer Johnny Horgan who was also part of the backroom team; and also Olivia Dineen who is a sister of Cyril Dineen who was a star performer on the clubs North Kerry League Division 2 victory against Knocknagoshel.
It was certainly a day to remember for both Jackie and Olivia who collected their second All Ireland title having already National honours and who were playing members of the Kerry Camogie team who were crowned All Ireland Premier Junior champions last September when they defeated Limerick in the final at Croke Park earlier in the year.
