COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee 3-7 Knocknagoshel 2-14. Whatever aspirations Asdee had of at least getting a play off for promotion ended atWillie Walsh Park, Knocknagoshel on Saturday evening last where the home side yet again proved to be their bogey team. Certainly the contribution of the Walsh brothers proved to be a major obstable to the visitors chances of victory as all 3 played major roles in their sides win with James 4pts and Edmond adding 6pts of their sides tally. It was obvious early on that Knock looked much sharper but Asdee will rue the many scoring opportunities that were squandered plus some woyful defending at times that saw some easy scores recorded by Knock even though the visitors led after 5mts with points coming from Cyril Dineen and Mike Breen with James Walsh firing over the opening score of the game. Further points from Edmond Walsh and a gift of a goal coming from David Cahill saw Knock ahead 1-4 to 0-2 after 12mts. Points were exchanged by Mike Breen and Noel Long for Asdee while James Walsh replied for Knock. However Asdee finished the half in style with the outstanding Noel Long and Mike Breen finding the net to leave the half time score; Asdee 2-4 Knock 1-5. On resumption Kieran Long cut the deficit to a single point inside the first minute but 4mts later a sweeping run from his half back position Kieran Kelly fed Cyril Dineen and he finished to the net in some style. Asdee 3-4 Knock 1-6. However Knock stuck in there and Edmond Walsh,2pts and Kieran Long 1pt saw the home side hit the front again by the 10th minute. Still Asdee dug deep and points from Eoin Kennedy and Sean Keane levelled up the tie as we approached the three quarter stage. Asdee 3-6 Knock 2-9. However this was as good as it got for Asdee as Knock took over with Noel Long adding his sides final point in the 21st minute and Edmond and James Walsh adding 2 a piece and Darragh O Connell had Knock well clear at the final whistle. For Asdee Darragh Keane, Kieran Kelly, Eoin O Carroll, Con Carmody, Noel Long, Cyril Dineen, Sean Keane and Martin Collins until injury ruled him out for the second half impressed.
