CONGRATULATIONS. A great honour was bestowed on the O Carroll Family Kilcolman and especially to John Joe on the wonderful achievement on being elected as Central Council Delegate at last weeks Annual General Meeting of the Kerry County Board held in the Ballyroe Heights, Hotel, Tralee. Certainly John Joe showed his popularity amongst the Clubs in the County with the massive support he received. A family steeped in G A A all their life; John Joe was Treasurer of the CountyBoard for a 10 year period; (2003-2013) and is also on a Finance Committee in Croke Park. His playing career certainly was a lengthy one starting off at under age playing with Ballylongford winning numerous titles that included North Kerry Senior Championships, North Kerry Intermediate Championships and later with his native Asdee been victorious at both North Kerry Intermediate Championship and Senior Division 2 League. In 1988 he captained the Asdee side to victory in the Novice “B” County Championship. He also is the proud holder of an All Ireland Inter Firm medal with Burlington with plenty more too numerous to mention. When John Joes playing career ended in the late 90s he took an active part in the activites of the club; as selector for both senior and underage and is the present Vice Chairman. John Joe replaces his long time friend Eamon O Sullivan of Castleisland Desmonds who had to vacate his position due to the 5 year rule. Without doubt this is not alone an honour to his family; St. Marys, G A A but also to North Kerry and one thing is for sure the popular Kilcolman lad will not be found wanting in his new position. On behalf of the club we wish John Joe every success and going forward there may be bigger fish to fry ahead.
