On behalf of Asdee G A A we would like wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New year and to thank you for your coverage throughout the year. Much appreciated.
LOOK BACK. Lets look back and reflect on the season gone by both on the playing fields and also some indoor activity. Our season got underway with the playing of the North Kerry League Division 2 and after a successful run we reached the final after receiving a w/o from Knocknagoshel in the semi final. However Ballydonoghue proved much to good in the final and ran out convincing victors. Next up on the playing fields we had the Credit Union County League Division 5 and in this competition the team excelled finishing in 5th position and were well in contention up to the final round of games for promotion. Wins against; Sneem/Derrynane, Tuosist, Laune Rangers “B”, Moyvane, Kilgarvan, Duagh and a draw against Ballydonoghue. In between we had the Novice Championship and here Knocknagoshel got revenge going through to round 2 with Asdee to take on Fossa in the Shield but once again a narrow defeat to the Killarney outfit was our lot. In the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Championship Round 1 we went in as underdogs against Beale but put it up to the Seasiders before they eventually won. Still the highlight of the year must be the winning of the Munster Junior “B” cup and this will be celebrated at a Victory Social at a later date. At both Senior and underage level we were well represented at all levels with Shannon Rangers and at underage the Asdee/Bally combination had a terrific season. Getting back to the County League for 2015 there will be 6 teams from the North Kerry Board District; Ballylongford, Ballyduff and Knocknagoshel who were relegated from Division 4 and will be joined by Asdee, Moyvane and Duagh. To complete the line up Sneem/Derrynane, Tuosist, Renard Valentia, Laune Rangers “B” and Kilgarvan. Fundraising activity included a very successful Half Marathon and Scrap Metal Collection and in the indoor scene we had 41 Drives and Christmas Hamper Draws. We were recently honoured with the news that John Joe O Carroll was elected as Central Council Delegate. The club are well represented at North Kerry Board. The club also made their mark at all level of Scor both in North Kerry and at County Level. On a sad note we lost the ledgendary Stevie Deenihan, President of our Club; Ar dheis De a anam uasal Gaelach.
VICTORY SOCIAL. All roads will lead to the Listowel Arms Hotel on this Sunday night, December 28th where the St. Marys, Asdee G A A will be celebrating an historic victory with pride of place going to our senior football team who will receive their Munster Junior “B” medals from a well known personality of G A A fame. Music will be provided by the Heart & Soul followed by a Disco by Fintan Henry.
