NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.

Asdee 1-10 Moyvane 0-11

Asdee began their 2014 season with a hard fought victory at Con Brosnan Park, Moyvane on Sunday last. It proved to be a game of two halves. Asdee totaly dominated the first period and could have been more than seven points ahead at half time. However, in the 2nd half Moyvane came battling back aided by a strong wind and for a while looked like shading the game only for the men in Black and Amber to close the game out. Moyvane got the games first score after three minutes of the first half. Michael Breen replied two minutes later.

Eoin Tydings and Michael Tydings pushed the Munster finalists into a 0-03 to 0-01 lead after eight minutes.DJ Keane reduced the deficit to a point before Eoin Kennedy grabbed an excellent point after 12 minutes from 30 yards out. An Ian Mccarty free on the 24th minute left the score at 0-05 to 0-03. Charlie Dalton was lively all day and scored a fine point in the 25th minute. Asdee were now well on top and there forwards were causing Moyvane serious problems. Michael Tydings got on the ball thirty yards from goal, his kick pass deceived the Moyvane full back and bounced into the top corner of the net to give Asdee a considerable cushion.

A Michael Breen point on the 31st minute looked to have set up the men in Black and Amber for a comfortable second half as they led at the break by 1-08 to 0-04. However, the elements were not on their side. The wind increased considerably in the 2nd half to Moyvanes advantage. They were to take the game to Asdee with points in the 8,10,11,14,17 Asdee looked to be in considerable trouble. The pick of those scores was Brian Stacks forty yard effort on 11 minutes.

Conditions were very bad with the away side hampered by very strong winds. However, they rallied in the last seven minutes with Eoin Kennedy coverting two frees on the 23rd and 26th minutes. Asdee also had two late goal chances to close the game out but on this occaision it was not needed as a great first half performance ensured Asdee gained their frst two points of the North Kerry League.
