Great 1st half display not enough for Asdee

 Asdee  0-6     Knocknagoshel  1-7.   Knocknagoshel defeated Asdee in Division 5 of the county league played atWillie Walsh Park on Saturday evening last  on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-6. This was a tale of two halves as Asdee dominated the opening half hour but failed to score in the second half and the home side dug deep to earn the two points on offer. Playing with a stiffish breeze it was Asdee who opened the scoring through a free from Eoin Tydings. Edmund Walsh replied with a point from play for Knock which incredibly was their only score of the half. In the 12th minute Asdee had another free from Eoin Tydings while Charles Dalton followed it with a point from play. Knock had a fair amount of possession at this stage but hit a number of wides. Micheal Walsh scored a point from play for Asdee and they missed a goal chance when John Doran drove wide. Asdee finished the half with two points from distance scored by Michael Tydings and Eoin Tydings. Half-time score Knocknagoshel 0-1 Asdee 0-6.

The second half opened well for the home side with three points from play from Edmund Walsh, Dan Roche and Niall Barrett and suddenly Asdee were in sight. John O’Keeffe rattled the post and the ball spun across the goal line but somehow managed to stay out of the net. The decisive moment came moments later when Kieran Long was illegally blocked in the square and Edmund Walsh slotted the penalty. From then on Knock eased home with  late points from Dan Roche and Edmund Walsh Final score Knocknagoshel 1-7 Asdee 0-6.
