FESTIVE SEASON. To say it was hectic may be an understatement for the St. Marys Asdee G A A Club over the festive season with the Fundraising Draw for the first prize of a Christmas Hamper won by Cillian Scanlon, Tullamore Ballybunion; The Wren was celebrated by a group of Club members; following on it was the Club Victory Social on December 29th at the Listowel Arms Hotel and certainly this a night to remember.
The great Weeshie Fogarty of Radio Kerry Fame was our M C for the occasion and he went down a treat with the 200 guests on the night. Representing the County Board we had Christy Kileen and from the North Kerry Board we had Billy Enright. The County Novice Shield medals were presented to the victorious squad of 2013; as were also honoured; Team Trainer and Selectors; John Kennedy, Dan Dalton and Sean Doran; while our first County winners of the Novice Championship back in 1988 were not forgotton. And as they were celebrating 25 years of that great win they were also presented with a momento of the occasion.
Captain Eoin O Carroll gave a stirring speech on behalf of the 2013 squad but without doubt and what will stick in everybodys mind was the remarkable speech given by Dan Dalton holding everybody in awe of the occasion. John Kennedy as he usually does speaks from the heart and it was no different on this occasion. There are so many people that made this night possible and are too numerous to mention.
However to the Chairman, Padraig Vallelly and Secretary, Mark O Hanlon you should take a bow. We cant forget our many sponsors who once again rowed in big time behind the Club; to you the people of the locality, thank you and finally to everybody who helped in any way; St. Marys Asdee, G A A are grateful for your generousity.
