Division 6B Final
Castlegregaory 6-6 Asdee/Ballylongford 2-8

Goals win matches and that was certainly the case in this Keanes SuperValu Killorglin Minor Football League Division 6B Final played at Killeen Na Gaeil on Friday evening.

Both sides were finding the wet conditions difficult to come to terms with misplacing a lot of passes however, Castlegregory settled into the game and worked a good goal in the 5th minute to open their scoring from wing forward Brandon Hoare. Timothy Moriarty added a point before Asdee/Ballylongford opened their account with a point from Ciaran O’Connor in the 10th minute.
Both sides swapped points before Maurice Slattery added a second goal in the 19th minute for Castlegregory to put them 2-2 to 0-2 ahead. Sean Keane added a point for Asdee/Bally but they were looking to get a goal and after a good catch at mid field from Darragh Keane, he found Ciaran O’Connor who made no mistake slotting to the net. Castlegregory weren’t finished their goal scoring however, and this time Aaron Crean applied the finishing touches to leave them 3-3 to 1-5 ahead at half time.

Asdee/Bally were unlucky in the early stages of the second half when a Darren Murphy shot for goal came off the crossbar and a Darragh Keane shot minutes later came off the upright and was finally knocked out for a forty five.
Castlegregory on the other hand were lucky with their first goal of the half when a shot for a point by Brandon Hoare was deflected off a defender and into the net in the 10th minute but the winners were reduced to fourteen men soon after. Asdee/Bally needed a response and Darren Murphy provided it by slotting home a penalty in the 15th minute for their opening score of the half. With inspiring captain John Joe Hussey driving htem forward, Castlegregory weren’t finished their goal scoring however, and two more goals from Brandon Hoare in the 15th and 22th minute capped a fine individual performance before substitute Jack Keane wrapped up the scoring with a point in the 30th minute for Asdee/Bally.

UNDER 14 COUNTY LEAGUE

Asdee/Bally 2-10 Castlegregory  5-25

Asdee/Bally made the long journey to Castlegregory on Wednesday evening last the 30th of April for the final round of their U14 county league campaign against a much fancied local team. The combination side were pointless coming into this game and had nothing to play for only pride, however the local side had all to play for as a win would see them qualify for the semi final stages of the competition. From the very moment the ball was thrown in, the local team set about their task like seasoned campaigners and had  built up a comfortable lead before the boys from North Kerry settled down. At half time the local boys had a huge lead built up which seemed insurmountable but huge credit must go to Asdee/Bally who came out in the second half and gave it their all for 25 minutes, however at the final whistle Castlegregory were celebrating after guaranteeing a place in the semi finals. Asdee/Bally will look back on this game with huge disappointment and wonder what could have been if they had played like they did the previous two weeks.
