COUNTY LEAGUE. Asdee 1-7 Renard 2-11
For the second week in a row a trip to South Kerry ended in disappointment for the Asdee senior team. On a perfect evening for football Asdee started brightly and took the lead with points from Darragh Keane and John Doran after a Renard free had put them into the lead after one minute. After this Renard regrouped to take a 0-04 to 0-02 with points in the 12th and 15th minutes. Asdee created a number of goal chances in the first half and failed to convert two chances in quick succession in the middle of the half which was later to prove crucial to the end result.
Michael Breen slotted over a fine point in the 19th minute before Darragh Keane levelled in the 22nd. A minute later Asdee were a goal to the good as Eoin Kennedy found the net from five yards out. A Mike Breen point in the 25th minute increased the gap to 5 points. Renard came back to record two further points on the 27th minute before Darren Russell finished the Asdee scoring for the half. The half-time score read Asdee 1-06 Renard 0-07.
It was looking good for Asdee at this stage especially after Kieran Kelly increased the lead to five points in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half. Unfortunately for the away side two Renard goals in the space of a minute seemed to deflate the visitors while Renard found a new lease of life. They continued with high intensitey for the rest of the match adding points in the 8/16/18 and 25th minutes to give the South Kerry men a deserved victory.
