COUNTY LEAGUE.  Asdee 1-14   Tuosist  0-8. Tuosist made the long trip from the Beara Peninsula on Sunday last to take on the locals but could never come to terms with a rampant Asdee side who played some delightful football and with centre forward Darren Russell at the heart of everything Asdee did well slicing through the Tuosist defence with power and grace however he was far from the solitary star as the North Kerry sides attackers consistently had options left and right leading to Tuosists confusion.

Still on saying that the visitors had their share of play and it wasn’t the fault of their midfielders Flor O Sullivan and Peter O Shea who had maybe the edge over their opponents; Thomas Harrington at centre forward and full forward Liam O Shea were impressive attackers but overall the teams shooting for scores left a lot to be desired.

The game opened with Con Carmody winning a dangerous ball in the full back line and after a short solo run found Darren Russell who fired over with a minute of play gone; Tuosist not to be outdone hit the front by the 5th minute with Thomas Harrington and a free coming from Liam O Shea. The remainder of the half saw the home side dictate matters and registering a series of well taken points from Eoin Kennedy, Eoin Tydings, Mike Breen, Darren Russell, Eoin O Carroll, and a peach of a goal from Darren Russell saw the half time reading Asdee 1-7 Tuosist 4pts; the visitors 2 points from Liam O Shea and Thomas Harrington.

On the changeover Tuosist took the game to their opponents and but for a mixture of excellent defending and poor shooting the scoreline could have been a little closer. In fact during this half it took at least 3 vital interceptions to deny the visitors scores. Still Asdee took it all in their stride and even though Tuosist had their moments they were never able to match the determind play of the home side who opened their account in this half with John Doran notching the first of his 2 points.

Asdee were once again finding the target and Micheal Tydings, Eoin Kennedy, substitute Paul O Carroll and Darren Russell all finding the range. The matched fizzled out with Flor O Sullivan finishing the games scoring after the same player brought the best out of the Asdee custodion Conor Coughlan who had to dive full stretch to deny what looked like a certain goal. Overall Asdee fully deserved their 9pt win which keeps them in contention for promotion.
