ASDEE G A A

COUNTY LEAGUE.   Asdee 1-13   Moyvane 2-9. A 30 meter free from the boot of Mike Breen deep into injury time say the home side edge out Moyvane in a trilling North Kerry derby played at Walsh Park, Asdee last evening. This was a game that had everything, some wonderful passages of football between two evenly matched sides, level on no fewer than 7 occasions, 25 scores in all, a black card issued for either side and a sending off of a Moyvane player for a double yellow with 10 minutes left for play. Certainly the game ebbed and flowed throughout and hung in the balance right up to the sound of the final whistle.

The opening half both teams get really stuck in but defences on both sides were to play a huge part when it came to preventing scores. Eoin Kennedy and Shane Stack were having a great battle while at the other end Martin Collins was winning his duel with his direct opponent. It took 4 minutes before we say the opening score which came from Eoin Kennedy from a tight angle.Ian McCarthy levelled up matters 3 minutes later. This was to be the trend for the remainder of the half. Eoin Kennedy, 2 and Eoin Tydings for Asdee while John Jack Mulvihill, 2 and D J Kennelly had the sides all square on the stroke of the short whistle. However enter substitute Joe Coulson who put the visitors in fron with an injury time point. Half Time. Moyvane 0-5 Asdee 0-4.

Within 30 seconds on resumption Eoin Tydings had the sides on level terms followed by similar scores by Charles Dalton and Mike Breen. Timmy Noonan who was having a solid game kicked 3 points in a row with Darren Russell replying for the home side as the sides failed to be seperated after 11 minutes. Eoin Tydings and Eoin Kennedy kicked Asdee into a 2 point lead only for Moyvane who introduced 2 substitutes; Kevin Kennelly and Martin Stack who were to play a big part in the game with both finding the net within 3 minutes of each other putting their side 4 points in front with 7 minutes remaining. It looked at this stage with the home side rattled as if the visitors would now pull away; but Asdee dug deep  and when Mike Breen rattled the Moyvane net in the 25th minute the game was up for grabs once again. Kevin Kelly drove forward from defence to split the uprights to tie up the game in the 28th minute and when the man of the moment Darragh Keane punched over for the lead it look done and dusted at this stage as we were deep in injury time.

There was still more and Timmy Noonan had Moyvane on level terms with a long range point. A draw now looked certainly on the cards but from the kick out Asdee moved the ball up-field where a foul was committed and Mike Breen duly oblidged with a terrific kick to give the home side a victory that they just about deserved.
