CLUB A G M. The 28th Annual General Meeting of St. Marys Asdee G A A Club took place at the Community Centre on Friday  night last, February 7th where a large attendance were present that saw just one change in Officership from the previous year; Michael Walsh has vacated the positions of Coaching Officer and will be filled at the first meeting of the Club. Prior to the Meeting getting underway there was a minutes silence observed for all who suffered bereavements during the past year. Chairman Padraig Vallelly welcomed everybody to the meeting and thanked everybody for their wonderful support once again during the past year.

A place in the clubs history books was created with our senior footballers reaching a Munster Junior “B” Final which is down for decision on Sunday February 23rd against Charleville and he urged to all to support on the day.   A special word of thanks went; Brandon Products who kindly sponsored a set of Jersies for the Club, and indeed all the various sponsors down through the year too numerous to mention He congratulated the Coiste Na Nog members from Asdee who were part of the success story with Asdee/Bally at under age. and requested the club members to get more involved in fundraising. He thanked the group who went hunting the Wren and went on to thank everybody for their support. Secretary, Mark O Hanlon gave a detailed account of the Clubs activities on and off the field during the year.

It was a busy year for the Club yet again having teams in all competition in North Kerry and the County competitions with Seniors, Minors, Under 21s,Coiste Na Nog, Cumbann Na Bun Scoil and local Blitzs. In the North Kerry League the Senior team were unlucky not to reach the semi final in Division 2.  Again our seniors put up a marvellous performance before going down to Beale in the Senior Championship. However the County Novice Shield was celebrated in some style; Clounmacon after extra time, Renard in the semi final and our great rivals from Ballylongford were defeated in a rousing County Final. He finished by thanking all the players for their total commitment during 2013.

Treasurers report, Eddie Anthony Walsh outlined the Clubs Finance. and urged the club members to get more involved in fundraising. The meeting came to a conclusion wishing Sean Walsh of Moyvane all the best in his quest to become the second Kerry President of the G A A. The following are the Officers for the year ahead;

MEMBERSHIP. Membership of the Club is now open so anybody who would like to take out membership can do so by contacting  Club Registrar, Patsy Coughlan. Adults E20 and Under Age E10. It is important to note that Membership of the Club will close on Monday March 31st and this will be strictly adhered to. Only fully paid up members will be in line for any match tickets that the Club may aquire.

PRESENTATION.  A presentation of medals to members of the victorious U12/14 and U16 teams by Kerry star footballer; Shane Enright which  took place at the Carmody Hall, Ballylongford at a special function organised by the Asdee/Bally combination club on Saturdayevening last.

OFFICERS Congratulations to  Eddie Anthony Walsh, and Jack Hennessy who were returned unopposed as Vice Chairman and Cultural Officer respectively of the North Kerry Football at their recent A G M. Long serving CCC member Patsy Coughlan is once again a member of this committee.

MUNSTER FINAL  Munster Final date with Charlville  will  take place in Knockaderry on Sunday February 23rd with a throw in time of2pm. For all those who may want to travel a bus will be organised so contact Stephen Horgan of JesseJamestavern Asdee immediately.

NORTH KERRY LEAGUE.  The North Kerry Senior Football  League Division 2  will be getting underway on  this Saturday February 15th at Ballyduff. The remaining teams in the group are; Knocknagoshel, Ballydonoghue and Moyvane. The format here will be that the top team will qualify for a final with second and third battling it out in a semi final. Winners of the Division will gain promotion to Division 1 for 2015.

SCOR. A marvellous nights entertainment is in store at the Community Centre, Asdee on  Saturday night February 22nd with the very best of Music, Song, Dance, Story-telling and Act which will be performed by Clubs from all over North Kerry which includes the local Club who will be taking part in the North Kerry Finals of Senior Scor. Proceedings will be getting underway at 7pm sharp and if last years show is anything to go by the expected huge crowd are assured of top class entertainment.
