BERNARD O CALLAGHAN MEMORIAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

The McMunns Bar and Restaurant, Ballybunion Sponsored Bernard O Callaghan Memorial North Kerry Senior Football Championship Round 1 is awaiting our senior footballers on this Saturday, October 12th at O Sullivan Park, Finuge, 3pm as we take on Duagh who will be going in to this tie as firm favourites and rightly so as they can boast of some top quality players led by former Kerry footballer, Anthony Maher who is leading by example along with the O Connor brothers and Kieran Quirke to mention a few..

Promotion to Division 3 of the Credit Union County Football League was huge and was done in great style finishing up as champions of their Division. Asdee on the other hand are also moving along nicely having won Division 2 of the North Kerry League and are at the minute involved in a semi final play-off in the County League Division 5 against Beale.

They will be depending on a number of their senior campaigners to lead the way and certainly Darragh Keane who is playing outstanding football at the minute and also starring for Shannon Rangers will have a big say in what way the result will go; Eoin Kennedy, Martin Collins, Kieran Kelly and Eoin Tydings are some others who can hold their own with any opposition.

However the depth in the squad is not as strong in numbers as the opposition and  even though Asdee would be well down the pecking order by the bookies to win this tie the club spirit will help them along and with nothing to loose and under no pressure what-so-ever this team will not be travelling to make up the numbers and having been in this situation on a few different occasions in the past and given little chance this could be the rock that the opposition might perish on.

Still its a big ask as Duagh have been performing quite well down the years in the championship and will be anxious to get off to a good start and bring back the Eamon O Donoghue Memorial Cup to the Mall last achieved in 2012 defeating Beale after a replay.Still its all on the day and if Asdee can lift their game  which they are well capable of; they can be a match for anybody and that includes the so called top dogs of this championship.

A huge contingent of local support is expected on the day to cheer on our footballers.
