Did you know Feale Rangers 0-8 Mid Kerry 0-3. That in 1978 the Bishop Moynihan Cup (County Senior Football Championship) came across the river Feale for the first time. The Captain of the team was Johnny Wren, Tarbert who received the Cup from Gerald McKenna, Chairman of the County Board.

On the way to the final Feale Rangers defeated South Kerry at the Quarter Final stage by 5-15 to 2-9. A local North Kerry derby and a repeat of the previous years final which Shannon Rangers won but on this occasion in a semi final the Feale got through by a point.
In the final Feale Rangers inspired by team captain, Johnny Wren, the hodoo is broken and the County Championship comes across the Feale for the first time in the history of the Association.
