That John Dowling, (present Shannon Rangers Club Secretary) won the first ever “Young Clubman of the Year Award” in Kerry in 1985.
That Ned Purtill was one of the youngest Referees to officiate at a County Championship Final. That Fr. James Linnane trained St. Brendans College, Killarney to win the All Ireland Colleges Final in 1969 and Denis Kissane, Lacca was on the starting 15. That Mick Finucane, Eddie Dowling and Gus Cremins and Frank O Keeffe, Austin Stacks are the sole survivers from the famous Polo Grounds All Ireland Final of 1947.
