CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW. The draw for the Bernard O Callaghan Memorial Senior Football Championship 2013 took place at McMunns Hotel Ballybunion; (competition sponsors) on Wednesday night last where all 15 clubs concerned were represented by their respective delegates for all the various draws which also included, Under 21, Minor, Junior and Novice Championship. Our senior footballers were included in the draw and were given a tough assignment when they face Beale who have been in the final of the competition with the past two years. However Asdee will be going into this contest very much the underdogs but even though they have a number of long term injury problems which will rule them out for the competition; the team will not be found wanting on the day and with former All Ireland Senior medal holder John Kennedy at the helm along with former stars, Sean Doran and Dan Dalton no stone will be left unturned in their quest to topple the odds on favourites. The Championship Draw was made by the President of the North Kerry Football Board, Jerry Brosnan. First round games are as follows; Last years champions Duagh play Ballyduff, winners in 2005; 2006. Ballylongford 2000 champions take on former All Ireland Club champions Desmonds,(2007 winners), Moyvane with the most North Kerry Senior Championships take on Ballydonoghue last time winners in 1992. St. Senans v Knocknagoshel with both striving to win the Eamon O Donoghue Cup for the first time, Brosna another team hoping to be crowned winners of the championship for the first time play 2010 champions Tarbert, Asdee will go back to 1934 when Craughdarrig led by Jack Walsh, (6 senior All Ireland Medals) face Beale who go back to 1989 for their last title win. Listowel Emmets back to back winners in 2008 and 2009 and Finuge, (former All Ireland Junior Club champions) last won the competition in 2011 received byes to the Quarter Finals.
